JAMINA GERL

Artistic depth, technical superiority and a remarkable sense of tonal colour are the trademarks of the young German pianist Jamina Gerl. Born in Bonn, she was accepted into the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln at the age of only 15 years. After completing the Diploma degree in instrumental performance with Roswitha Gediga, she became a student of Eduard Zilberkant, continuing her academic studies with a full scholarship at the University of Alaska.

Competition triumphs and increasing concert engagements soon took her to prestigious venues across the world such as the Steinway Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Kammermusiksaal Beethoven-Haus, Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall, Seattle, Sichuan Conservatory of Music Concert Hall and Munetsugu Hall, Nagoya.

She has appeared on radio and TV recordings produced in cooperation with MDR, WDR, Dlf and Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

Following studies for her Master of Music in piano performance, Gerl was an assistant at the Catholic University of America until the end of 2012, where she studied under Nikita Fitenko in the doctoral programme. She received further inspiration from masterclasses with Paul Badura-Skoda, Bernd Goetzke, Menahem Pressler, Jerome Rose, Massimiliano Ferrati and Rose Marie Zartner.

Her debut solo album Wanderer (TYXart) received worldwide radio broadcasts and garnered international critical acclaim.

Gerl has been awarded scholarships from the Gisela and Erich Andreas Foundation Berlin, the Paul + Maria Kremer-Stiftung, the Rieke Alten Foundation in Berlin, the WILL Foundation, and the Richard Wagner Society.
