JANE GIERING DE HAAN The soprano Jane Giering-De Haan made her Seattle Opera début in 1995 as Woglinde in Wagner’s Rheingold and Götterdämmerung and as the Forest Bird in Siegfried. She returned in 1997 for Sophie in Massenet’s Werther and for Sophie in Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, in 1998 for Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and in 2001 for Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff. She returned the following season as well as Zerbinetta in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, a rôle she has sung at Hamburg State Opera and with Philadelphia Orchestra in Carnegie Hall. Giering-De Haan has numerous credits in Germany and Austria. As a member of Deutsche Oper Berlin, she has sung, among other rôles, Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cupid in Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers, Adele in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, and Cunégonde in Bernstein’s Candide. She has appeared with many North American companies as well, including L’Opéra de Montréal, Houston Grand Opera, Florentine Opera, and Washington Opera.
