JAROSLAV JEŽEK

(1906 - 1942)

Jaroslav Ježek and Emil František Burian were two of young artists who mastered jazz idioms and used them both in classical pieces and, with jazz bands, in revues, satires and political song writing. Equally influenced by Stravinsky, Les Six and his older colleague Schulhoff, Ježek composed some of the most interesting Czech songs and found his principal source of income and success working with the Prague Liberated Theatre (Osvobozené Divadlo).
