Kate Lindsey grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and studied at Indiana University and on Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. She has sung for many of the world’s leading opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, New York, Seattle Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and for the Glyndebourne and Aix-en-Provence festivals.

Her repertory include Idamante (Idomeneo), Cherubino, Zerlina, Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Marguerite (La Damnation de Faust), Nicklausse/Muse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos). She created the title role in Hagen’s Amelia for Seattle Opera, and has featured in Metropolitan Opera broadcasts of Les Contes d’Hoffmann, La clemenza di Tito and Die Zauberflöte. Her recordings include ‘Follow, Poet’, a collection of songs by Mohammed Fairouz for Deutsche Grammophon.

Lindsey regularly appears in concert with such conductors as James Conlon, Emmanuelle Haïm, Thomas Hengelbrock, Vladimir Jurowski, James Levine, Lorin Maazel and Franz Welser-Möst. She has appeared in recital at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rockefeller University. Her many awards include a 2011 grant from the Festival Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot, the 2007 Richard F. Gold Career Grant and the 2007 George London Award.
