LIDIA VINYES CURTIS

Born in Barcelona, the mezzo-soprano Lidia Vinyes Curtis started singing lessons with Maestro Jorge Sirena while she was a professional baroque violinist. After her successful appearance at the 2013 Bachwoche Stuttgart, she was invited by Helmuth Rilling to sing an extensive repertoire of music by J.S. Bach. She made her début at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in Terry Gilliam’s production of Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini and Jean-Claude Malgoire invited her to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées to sing Rossini. She has sung Handel’s Rodelinda under the musical direction of Ivor Bolton at the Madrid Teatro Real. She has recorded seventeenth-century Spanish music with harp player Manuel Vilas and Tonos Humanos.
