Luciano Acocella studied composition, piano and conducting at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, with masterclasses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Kondrashin Masterclass in Hilversum in the Netherlands. He also studied classical literature and musicology at La Sapienza University in Rome. He went on to conduct major orchestras and to win various competitions and from 2008 to 2010 was invited to the Centre Français de Promotion Lyrique de Paris, conducting Il viaggio a Reims on tour to various French opera houses. In 2012 he conducted La donna del lago in Moscow and in 2014 Le villi at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with the Orchestre National de France and the chorus of Radio France. From 2011 to 2014 he was general music director of the Opéra de Rouen-Haute Normandie and has continued his career with engagements throughout Europe and as far afield as Tokyo.
