Maasa Nakazawa was born in Tokyo in 1986 and received her musical training under Katsuko Kaneko and Sumiko Mikimoto. From 2002 to 2005 she was a pupil at higher music schools attached to the music faculty of the Tokyo University of Arts and from 2005 studied there with Yu Kakuno. From 2006 she studied with Peter Efler at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. She has studied chamber music with G.J. Pokorny and Marialena Fernandes and accompaniment with Meinhard Prinz and David Lutz. She has also participated in various masterclasses. Her prizes include second prize at the Japan Music Student Competition, first prize at the Japan Tchaikovsky Competition, first prize in the Asia Chopin Competition and a number of awards in Europe. She has appeared as a soloist with the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra and the Romanian Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra, in addition to other engagements also in chamber music and as an accompanist.
