Born in Madrid, Miguel López Galindo graduated from the Escuela Superior de Canto in that city. He was the winner of the Primer Concurso Internacional de Canto Julián Gayarre, and also won the first prize for basses at the Certamen Nacional de Canto Ciudad de Logroño. His professional activities began at the Teatro Lírico Nacional La Zarzuela, and he made his début at the Teatro Bellas Artes de México with Penella’s Don Gil de Alcalá. He appeared with Plácido Domingo in a concert version of Massenet’s Le Cid at the Madrid Teatro Real, and performs regularly at Spanish opera houses and auditoria. He has also appeared at the Buenos Aires Teatro Colón. He appears regularly at the Liceu in Barcelona and performed in Viva la Mamma, a free adaptation of Donizetti’s Le convenienze teatrali, with Montserrat Caballé and Joan Pons at the Festival Internacional de Peralada in 1990.
