NEW AMSTERDAM CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor is part of Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam (NVA), a classical singing course specialising in opera, for talented children from four years old. The NVA has won international awards and can regularly be heard and seen in Dutch national media.

In addition to renowned children’s choir repertoire, the NVA performs a large number of operas including Hänsel und Gretel, Britten’s The Golden Vanity and The Little Sweep, Phillip Glass’s The Witches of Venice and Krása’s Brundibár.

The NVA has been led by Mariss Jansons, Markus Stenz, Ed Spanjaard and Ingo Metzmacher. Since December 2013, the NVA has been working in partnership with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Ton Koopman on the much-praised musical theatre piece, Christmas Play. The NVA has participated in productions of La bohème and Das Floss der Medusa as a regular choral partner of Dutch National Opera.
