Nicola Guerini was born in Verona. He studied piano, organ and organ composition, conducting and composition at the Cesare Pollini Conservatory in Padua and at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He perfected his studies at the Accademia Chigiana, at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, and at the Accademia Pescarese with Donato Renzetti. In 2010 he was awarded a Master of Arts in Music Conducting at the Musikhochschule in Lugano (Switzerland) with Giorgio Bernasconi and Arturo Tamayo. At the age of 24 he made his début as both composer and conductor with the opera Zàabok, commissioned by the Fondazione Arena di Verona. He has been an assistant to Ralf Weikart, Giorgio Bernasconi and Donato Renzetti in Italy and for international productions at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, the Teatro dell’Opera, Rome and the Lyric Opera, Chicago. He takes part in festivals and prestigious concert seasons with important orchestras including the Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mozart Chamber Orchestra, the Croatian Radio & Television Orchestra, Zagreb, the Târgu-Mureș Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic, the Berliner Symphoniker and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. He is president of the Peter Maag Music Fund and artistic director of the international symphonic and lyric opera laboratory “La Bottega” for young talented artists.
