Orazio Maione was born in Naples in 1962. He is a prizewinner of several prestigious national and international competitions including the Liszt Piano Competition in Sopron (Hungary) and the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza (Italy). In 1982 he made his Teatro San Carlo début in Naples and in 1986 was awarded first prize at the 3rd International Piano Competition in Pretoria (South Africa). He has broadcast for several radio and TV stations as well as recording for IMP Classics and Suonare Records.
Orazio Maione has also published an essay on Italian Conservatories of music during the Fascist era (EDT, Turin 2005). Videos of Orazio Maione discussing Chopin’s piano method and repertoire are available on YouTube. He lives in Rome and is Professor of Piano at the Conservatorio di Musica ‘Francesco Morlacchi’, Perugia.
