Paulo Ferreira is an acclaimed Portuguese tenor with an unique combination of vocal and dramatic skills. Upon graduation from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in Porto he won several first prizes in singing competitions and received funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He began his career as a baritone and has recorded Sete Canções de Albano Martins and the opera Os Dias Levantados by António Pinho Vargas. In 2007 he performed his first tenor rôle (Don José, Carmen, Coliseu do Porto). His international début came in Germany in July 2011, singing alongside Anna Netrebko in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. In the same year he appeared as Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Grigoriy (Boris Godunov) at the Theater Hof and Stadthalle in Bayreuth, to enthusiastic acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
