RICHARD TODD Internationally renowned concert, jazz and recording artist
Richard Todd has earned acclaim as one of the finest horn soloists today. From
the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra to Birdland, Todd is the leader in a new
generation of horn artists. Gold medal winner of the 1980 Concours
Internationale Toulon, he is a Pro Musicis International Foundation Award
winner and is continually expanding the boundaries of the horn world. He has
performed under the batons of such luminaries as Bernstein, Giulini, Marriner,
Abravanel, Ozawa, Rilling and Schuller. A rigorous schedule includes his
position as principal horn with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, recitals and
solo engagements in the United States and abroad, work in the film industry
(over 1,000 soundtracks,) on classical recordings, in appearances as a jazz
artist in concerts and recordings, and in his own busy recording career. Deeply
committed to arts education, Todd is on faculty at the University of Southern
California and the Henry Mancini Institute.
