Born in Faura (Valencia, Spain) in 1984, Robert Ferrer received his degrees in conducting and tuba from the Conservatorio Superior de Música ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’ in Valencia. He attended courses and masterclasses in conducting with Sylvain Cambreling in Mainz and Luxembourg, with Zsolt Nagy in Brno and with Yaron Traub, Enrique García Asensio and Cristóbal Soler in Valencia. During 2010–11 he was a Fellow of the Caja Madrid Foundation studying for a postgraduate degree at HAMU in Prague.

Today, he lives in Brno, where he is a doctoral candidate in conducting at JAMU and a doctoral candidate in Musicology at MUNI. He is a member of the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno. As a principal and guest conductor he has worked with ensembles including the Orchestra Mare Nostrum of Valencia, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Federación de Sociedades Musicales de la Comunidad Valenciana, the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatorio Superior de Música ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’, the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Valencia (JOGV) and the Ensemble Opera Diversa in Brno

Ferrer has performed at festivals including Ensems in Valencia, Las Artes en Paralelo at the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Festival International de Musique Universitaire in Belfort, the Biennale de la Méditerranée in Thessaloniki and the Cicle de concerts somelgrup. Since 2006 he has been artistic director and chief conductor of Ensemble Col legno, and assistant conductor at the National Theatre in Brno since the 2017–18 season.
