ROBERTO TRAININI

Roberto Trainini was born into a non-musical family in a southern Italian town. He began his studies at the age of 10 with his father’s uncle, Saverio Lojacono and later with Vincenzo Caminiti, and Pietro Bruno in Bari. He continued his studies with Radu Aldulescu at the International Menuhin Music Academy and with Wolfgang Mehlhorn at the Hamburg Conservatory, Michel Strauss at the Conservatoire de Paris and Steven Isserlis at Prussia Cove.

He was awarded several prizes at important international cello competitions (Markneukirchen, Belgrade, Rome and Hamburg, among others) and was a principal cellist at the Lüneburg Opera and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Today, he is a sought-after soloist in Poland, Germany, Austria, Turkey, South Africa, Romania, Cyprus, Italy, China, Japan, Mexico and Argentina.

Trainini is currently a cello professor at the Hochschule für Musik Bozen, as well as at the Academia de Arte de Florencia in Mexico City. He regularly holds masterclasses in Poland, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Ukraine and Argentina. He performs on a cello made specially for him by Alessandro Ciciliati in 2017.
