Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Stefan Chaplikov began his musical studies with Elena Velcheva and made his concert debut in Sofia at the age of eleven as a soloist with the Sofia Soloists chamber ensemble. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Michell Béroff and was a Rebanks Family Fellow at The Glenn Gould School under the tutelage of John Perry.
He was awarded an Artist Diploma at Yale School of Music, where he studies with Peter Frankl, and is a now a doctoral student in Leon Fleisher’s studio at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. His career as a pianist has taken him to venues throughout Europe and North America. Recent highlights include performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Dian Chobanov. He has recorded an album ‘Brahms: Variations’ for the ‘Young soloists’ collection of the Conservatoire de Paris.
