Therese Elder Wunrow served as principal harp of the Seattle Symphony from 1986 through the 1992-93 season. A native of Kentucky, she began harp studies at the age of ten at the University of Louisville, later earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University. Her teachers included Susann McDonald at Indiana University and Marilyn Costello, principal harp of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She is the recipient of many honours, including the Elizabeth Hobins Hays Award; she also won the American Harp Society Close Competition in 1985. Before joining the Seattle Symphony, she performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Columbus Symphony, the Colorado Philharmonic, and was co-principal of the Delaware Symphony.
