Verena Schoneweg studied in Düsseldorf and Berlin with Michael Gaiser, Ilan Gronich and Thomas Brandis and graduated with a concert diploma. She was a founding member and concertmaster of Ensemble Oriol and worked regularly with the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Through collaborating with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt as well as other ensembles, Verena Schoneweg got involved with historical performance practice. She broadened her expertise in this field by working with different ensembles such as Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, La Stravaganza Köln, Camerata Köln and La Stagione Frankfurt. As a chamber musician she worked with Pleyel-Quartett Köln and with Epoca Barocca. She is a member of the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble directed by Thomas Hengelbrock and of the Goldberg Trio Bonn.
