ROSSINI, G.: Sigismondo (Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro, 2010) (NTSC) 101648
ROSSINI, G.: Sigismondo (Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro, 2010) (Blu-ray, Full-HD) 108062

Young Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko…plays the maligned queen with gentle dignity and in great voice…Antonio Siragusa…sings quite well, and handles the Rossini fioratura with confidence. Andrea Concetti, as the King of Bohemia, and Manuella Bisceglie as the Minister’s sister also perform well…Choral and orchestral forces of the Teatro Comunale in Bologna provide quite excellent musical support and seem to have a great affinity with the Rossini music.

…this production is the best set of the opera to have. © 2013 Fanfare Read complete review

Charles H. Parsons
American Record Guide, January 2013

Barcellona’s rich contralto voice, easy agility, and dramatic insight add up to an outstanding performance of the mad king. Peretyako’s vocal beauty makes her an ideal Aldimira. For sheer enjoyment Siragusa’s bright tenor reaches the heights, vocally and dramatically, as the treacherous Ladislao. The rest of the cast is quite admirable as well. It is the outstanding conducting of Mariotti that welds the show together. The orchestra is rhythmically astute, bouncing along with great exuberance. © 2013 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide online

Robert Benson, January 2013

…the music is charming and a showcase for virtuoso singers as those heard here in this 2010 production from the Bologna Municipal Theater under the brilliant Michele Mariotti…this opera is quite amusing, and and the video and splendid audio add to the enjoyment. © 2013 Read complete review
