Steven Kruger
Fanfare, November 2014

This Bruckner Ninth is curiously seductive…always beautiful. And the soaring passages of the heart soar here as I have never heard them soar before. This is Bruckner, the lover! © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

Steven Kruger
Fanfare, November 2014

His [Giulini] Bruckner Ninth was always beautiful, but this 1998 performance with the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra is swifter and less prone to plod than his better-known Vienna Philharmonic CD. The rehearsal portions reveal in Giulini’s face the impassioned romantic that he always was, and he performs the more lyrical portions of the symphony with what can only be called romantic ardor. This is Bruckner, the lover. © 2014 Fanfare

Paul L. Althouse
American Record Guide, September 2014

…Giulini and the orchestra deliver just the right emotional level for a symphony that, being unfinished and Bruckner’s last, is tinged with sadness and regret. The valedictory spirit here is quite wonderful and touching, and the video amplifies the intense, but calm concentration that Giulini brought to the piece, particularly in the last movement. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

José Luis Bermúdez
Classical Net, June 2014

The performance is very fine indeed. The rehearsal shows how much work went into getting the balance right between wind and horns.

…this is a highly recommended DVD. The performance is very much worth the price of admission and the rehearsal certainly deepens appreciation. © 2014 Classical Net Read complete review
