Celebrated as a Mozart-Strauss soprano, Fleming has impeccable German, and for musical support there’s an expert…accompanist in Maciej Pikulski…

Fleming is scrupulously musical, and…her beautiful voice provides its own pleasures. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review

RECITAL WITH RENÉE FLEMING (A) - Vienna at the Turn of the 20th Century (NTSC) 102196
RECITAL WITH RENÉE FLEMING (A) - Vienna at the Turn of the 20th Century (Blu-ray, HD) 108117

[Renée Fleming seems] at home with Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder. Her voice beautifully encompasses the arching melodic lines of “Ich atmet’ einen linden Duft,” and the dark, almost hollow sounds she makes in her chest register are apt for the despairing “Um Mitternacht.” Pikulski’s piano accompaniment is particularly sensitive in this song, which has the emotional arc of a three-act opera.

In “Erwartung”, Fleming expertly establishes the moonlit scene and the wisp of a story. © 2015 Opera News Read complete review

Pizzicato, November 2014

This is one delightful recital with a beautiful though sometimes unexpected program. Renée Fleming’s crystalline timbre is ravishing. © 2014 Pizzicato
