new-classics.co.uk, October 2016

Humperdinck’s masterpiece is an endearing and musically adroit opera that continues to entrance adults and children alike. Steeped in the guileless world of folk-song: the children’s songs and dances, the idyllic forest scenes, the supernatural material and the central thematic chorale are all rooted in German traditional music. Conductor Franz Welser-Möst draws this impressive diversity of sound from the orchestra of the Zurich Opera House in Frank Corsaro’s stylish and imaginative production for Zurich Opera. © 2016 new-classics.co.uk Read complete review

Ralph V. Lucano
American Record Guide, May 2015

The performance is well sung all around. Muff is a particularly warm, likable Peter; and the two children are pure and true. Hartelius has fresh, lovely top notes; and Nikiteanu’s soprano is just dark enough to offer the necessary contrast.

…the Blu-ray picture and sound are excellent. © 2015 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Fanfare, March 2015

…here is a musically solid Hänsel und Gretel… The Blu-ray version is crystal clear, with full, realistic sound. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review
