James A. Altena
Fanfare, January 2016

One of the most vital—and unexpected—assets of this production…is the conducting of the late Lorin Maazel. …Here, apparently under the grace of a benevolent patron deity, his rendition of the score is one of breathtaking perfection that arguably surpasses even Toscanini and Muti among famed predecessors. Tempos, rhythms, dynamics, accents, and balances are unerringly judged and totally at the service of the score and the action. Under his command, the La Scala orchestra and chorus have never sounded better than, or perhaps even as good as, they do here. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review

Remy Franck
Pizzicato, June 2015

160 minutes of operatic delight. Pavarotti is a superb Radames and most of the other singers make notable contributions to the overall success of this production, as does Luca Ronconi in his subtle staging. © 2015 Pizzicato
