Andrew Quint
Fanfare, January 2016

Adrianne Pieczonka is a morally centered, thoughtful, and kind Marschallin, comfortable in her own skin. Her moment of introspection at the close of act I is emotionally potent and dramatically authentic. Angelika Kirchschlager has the whole man/woman thing down and it’s quite possible to lose track of the gender of the singing actress behind the role, so totally in character is the portrayal. Miah Persson exudes innocence and vulnerability even as she sings with warmth and confidence. When these three voices intertwine in the last act trio…the effect is breathtaking. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review

Pizzicato, June 2015

In Robert Carsen’s Salzburg Rosenkavalier from 2004, the end of the Habsburg monarchy is a major background element, giving the opera a rather dark and tragic character. Musically a first class cast and an inspired Semyon Bychkov make this a truly desirable issue. © 2015 Pizzicato
