Ralph V Lucano
American Record Guide, May 2016

The singers are a fairly refined, straightforward bunch. Damrau is a sexy Susanna, …D’Arcangelo’s Figaro is livelier; and he, like the other Italians in the cast, relishes the words, especially in his Act 4 aria. …like Damrau, his attractive physical presence adds interest to his character. Spagnoli is a persuasive Count, splenetic but also dignified, and he sails easily through his aria. …Talamanca sculpts the Countess’s lines beautifully, appoggiaturas nicely in place. Bacelli is a lively Cherubino.

Conductor Korsten keeps the action moving, but he also chooses some deliberate tempos that really let us savor the music and orchestration. © 2016 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide
