Stephen D Chakwin Jr
American Record Guide, September 2016

…a lovely hour and a third of music-making. Knappertsbusch, Backhaus, and the VPO knew one another and the music very well for decades. The performances are mellow, graceful, and completely natural—no hype, no pretense, powerful climaxes, singing lyric sections.

This is a concert where you know everyone will get things right and you can just relax and enjoy it. © 2016 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

The WholeNote, May 2016

He seems to draw the orchestra out rather than imposing on them. …The veteran Backhaus, still well in command of his instrument, and Knappertsbusch are of one mind in this elegant, patrician performance. …The Walküre first act is sung flawlessly… © 2016 The WholeNote Read complete review

Remy Franck
Pizzicato, May 2016

These two concerts from the Vienna Festival 1962 and 1963 take us back to long lost times, with great performances under the baton of the over seventy years old ‘Kna’. A must! © 2016 Pizzicato
