Patrick Hanudel
American Record Guide, November 2014

Initium brings these scores to life with superb playing and often compelling renditions, and their guests are outstanding in their solo roles. Demarquette gives his supporting cast all they can handle with virtuoso brilliance, and Deshayes and Sabo fill their duet with haunting beauty. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Fanfare, November 2014

This CD does not disappoint…[the performers] attack this music with brio and elegance, as well they should…

Although all of these pieces have been recorded by others, this is the one place where you can go to get an all-Ibert wind music festival. It is a delight from start to finish. © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

MusicWeb International, September 2014

It would be unfair to single out any of the musicians of Ensemble Initium. Each plays with immaculate technique and commitment to the music which each of them obviously cherishes. These superb performances are magnificently recorded in natural acoustics making the best of Ibert’s meticulously laid-out music. A pure joy from first to last…this is a disc to enjoy with open ears and—more importantly—open heart. A lovely disc. © 2014 MusicWeb International Read complete review

Ivan March
Gramophone, September 2014

The Cello Concerto…[was] impressively played by Henri Demarquette…

The Deux Mouvements move from relaxed charm to Assez vit et rythmé, followed by the captivating miniature duet for soprano voice and flute, Deux Stèles orientées…This is delightfully sung here by Karine Deshayes with Edouard Sabo the flautist. The Cinq Pièces en trio show Ibert at his most engaging. The collection ends appropriately with the most complex work here, Le jardinier de Samos…the playing is polished, alive and sensitive, and the recording cannot be faulted. A disc well worth having. © 2014 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone
