Sensible Sound, October 2002

"This is a well done recording, with fine instrumental performances to boot. The surround channels generate hall ambiance and the overall sound is smooth, dynamic when required, and blessed with a fine sound stage."

Peter M. Knapp
Patriot Ledger, September 2002

"Although these suites hace been much recorded, the lively interpretations by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of William T. Stromberg are welcome additions in brilliant, state-of-the-art DVD 'surround' audio."

Donald Rosenberg
Cleveland Plain Dealer, September 2002

"Although the American-born composer penned pieces in many genres, Grofe excelled in the realm of orchestral suites, such as the three scores on this bright new recording. Like his "Grand Canyon Suite," "Hudson River Suite" and "Death Valley Suite" are richly drawn portraits of American places and people, with an emphasis on the big orchestral gesture. The performances are chipper and the sound quality top-notch."

Audiophile Audition, June 2002

Sonics are clean and very wide range, with a natural, ungimmicked feeling of the hall in Dorset, UK where it was recorded. Grofe's Mississippi Suite has always been a favorite of mine, and I love to play the jazz staple Daybreak, which is the lovely melody taken from the last movement - Mardi Gras.

Olin Chism
The Dallas Morning News, April 2002

"The familiar sound of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is to a certain degree [Grofe's]. His Grand Canyon Suite and similar works celebrating American nature and life are pleasant, well-made pieces with no pretension to depth."
