STRAVINSKY, I.: Stravinsky in Hollywood (Documentary) (NTSC) 716308
STRAVINSKY, I.: Stravinsky in Hollywood (Documentary) (Blu-ray, HD) 716404

Marco Capalbo, evidently understanding of and sympathetic towards his subject, went to great lengths to find and restore some astonishing footage…the blending of images is perfect, and adds rather than detracts from the ongoing narrative.

Overall…[this is] a fascinating documentary. Perhaps because of the density of its topic and the concentrated mode of its telling, it both moves well and seems a bit longer than 52 minutes. For devotees of Stravinsky…this video is indispensable. © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

Director Marco Capalbo shows us how one of the most influential cultural figures of the early 20th century reinvented himself in the land of celluloid sunshine. A compelling tale of personal transformation. © 2014 Scene Magazine Read complete review

…Marco Capalbo’s…film Stravinsky in Hollywood is so valuable…it manages to summarize how Stravinsky’s stay in Southern California prompted a rebirth of his creative energies even after being rejected by Hollywood itself. © 2014 Classical Voice North America Read complete review

Fulvue Drive-in, August 2014

Marco Capalbo’s Stravinsky In Hollywood is another fine new documentary about a great music figure…specifically how being brought to Hollywood changed his life and likely saved it, plus gave him new creative avenues.

He kept trying to connect to other feature film projects…but these collaborations kept falling through, but this still led to some very important work and this 53–minutes work shows the rest. Here too…has more than enough things that many are not aware of and both film and music fans will really appreciate it. © 2014 Fulvue Drive-in Read complete review
