Robert Benson
ClassicalCDReview.com, June 2016

Jennifer Larmore sings the title role, with Asian tenor Jun-Sang Han as her suitor, Paris. There’s lots of energy throughout, and the singing is generally pleasing… © 2016 ClassicalCDReview.com Read complete review

OFFENBACH, J.: Belle Hélène (La) (Hamburg State Opera, 2014) (NTSC) 730908
OFFENBACH, J.: Belle Hélène (La) (Hamburg State Opera, 2014) (Blu-ray, HD) 731004

…packed with enchanting music…

Jennifer Larmore makes a slightly blowsy Helen, both visually and vocally, but proves game for the production’s nonsense. Slender Jun-Sang Han has the voice for Paris’s demanding aria and matches her in duets. Renaud Doucet, the director, also provides the minimal choreography for a score full of waltzes and a can-can. © 2016 Ballet Review

Joanne Sydney Lessner
Opera News, March 2016

The conceit suits Jennifer Larmore, who makes a voluptuous, overripe Hélène, more grand dame than petite femme. She makes the most of her uberfeminine authority, and her robust mezzo dominates the action, …Rebecca Jo Loeb proves a scene-stealer as Oreste, whom she plays as a sideburned psychedelic playboy, delivering her two arias with a warm, firmly rooted mezzo. © 2016 Opera News Read complete review

Vividly conducted by Gerrit Priessnitz, the whole thing is a blast, and bang up-to-date too… © 2015 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone
