Lawrence Hansen
American Record Guide, March 2016

The tech data does promise 1080i resolution, and the picture quality is quite good, the audio track excellent, and the performances themselves out of this world.

Sibelius’s symphonies are a mix of frantic fury, angst, and serene resignation, which seemed to perfectly synchronize with Bernstein’s interpretations in the last 20 years of his life. © 2016 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

The orchestra is not closely-miked, and I like the result. Strings are very smooth. Horns are well-etched.

…a fine disc, with memorable performances. …Recommended! © 2016 Audiophile Audition Read complete review

…No. 1 is handled best—and, significantly, least eccentrically. The gorgeous sound of the orchestra comes to the fore here, the intensity of the music is palpable, and there is very little that is exaggerated or forced into garb that it wears poorly. This is a performance that can show listeners unfamiliar with Bernstein why so many people thought so highly of him. © 2015 Infodad.com Read complete review

MusicWeb International, December 2015

Leonard Bernstein, as a conductor was an astonishing re-creative artist, albeit a controversial one. In these Sibelius performances he holds nothing back; he is utterly committed and absorbed and the results are…utterly compelling. This is a great conductor at work and getting splendid performances from an orchestra which clearly held him in high regard. © 2015 MusicWeb International Read complete review
