Huntley Dent
Fanfare, November 2016

…[this documentary] has the virtue of total sincerity in its wonder over a legendary personality. …What draws the line between Bernstein the self-aggrandizer and Bernstein’s real achievement is this: The way he made the world love him was through true musical genius. © 2016 Fanfare Read complete review

Paul E. Robinson
Musical Toronto, July 2016

One of the most memorable sequences depicts Bernstein losing his patience with the Vienna Philharmonic in rehearsal. But he was right, and ultimately they bought into his view of Mahler. © 2016 Musical Toronto Read complete review

John Sunier
Audiophile Audition, June 2016

This…may be the best documentary film on the great conductor, composer and bon vivant. I can’t think of any other that brings across amazing passion and energy of Leonard Bernstein.

This wonderful documentary shows why he was considered one of the most influential classical musicians of the last century. He was an inspirational teacher, a brilliant conductor who brought the symphonies of Mahler to the public eye and ear, a fine composer, and an accomplished pianist. © 2016 Audiophile Audition Read complete review
