Teri Fitsell
I-Mag, September 2001

"Fusion food may have people running for cover, but fusion music - aka world music - can be a very good thing. And the mix of music doesn't come much more eccentric than this - West African pop meets Finnish folk. An Afro-Nordic combo sounds unlikely - many of us would be hard-pressed for instance to recall a single Finnish song - but this 16-piece band has created a pleasing mix of persuasive African rhythms and Nordic harmony/poetry. The upbeat numbers work best, particularly "Masala" and the infectiously happy "Bonsue - 2000", while some of the slower songs veer too close to aging hippie territory. The group was reportedly borne out of a need to deal with increased racial tension in Finland during the Nineties when African immigration was increasing. And in these frighteningly troubled times, all moves for racial harmony are to be applauded, loudly."
