On this double CD set, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Mogrelia, give a delightful and spirited performance of the complete score for Adolphe Adam’s ballet La Filleule de Feés. This vivacious music contains many memorable themes and is brilliantly orchestrated throughout. © 2014 Read complete review

Christopher Cook
International Record Review, August 2002

"The music Adam wrote for La Filleule is every bit as good as the score for Giselle. Here is a composer with an unerring instinct for what works in the theatre...It is evident, too, that the conductor and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra relish Adam's gifts as an orchestrator...La filleule des fees is not a work that any of us are likely to be lucky enough to see danced on stage, but now we can hear it and, thanks to Andrew Mogrelia, help to right a cultural wrong. On the evidence of this recording Adolphe Adam was much more than just a one-ballet man."

Robert Baxter
Courier-Post, June 2002

"Adam's score may lack the emotional depth of his music for Giselle but it contains the fragrant melodies and delectable rhythms that characterize his finest dance works. Andrew Mogrelia leads a deftly played account of this appealing ballet score. The Queensland Symphony Orchestra plays with stylish skill in a performance captured in clear, full-bodied digital sound. *** "

Ballet Review, March 2002

"Lovers of Romantic ballet music will delight in this as I do, especially as displayed by Andrew Mogrelia and his Australian forces, who play as if the music were in their every day repertory."
