John Sunier
Audiophile Audition, June 2014

The collection was compiled from five separate volumes of Satie’s piano music on Naxos…Klara Körmendi…demonstrates a really fine grasp of Satie’s music…Körmendi does a terrific job on the wide variety of Satie here—from the serious compositions to the wild music hall ditties…It’s nice to hear them at normal tempi and the sonics are better than the [competition]… © 2014 Audiophile Audition Read complete review

David Denton
David's Review Corner, December 2013

Turn the clock back twenty-four years and the Naxos label released a disc of piano music by Erik Satie that was to grow into a complete cycle issued over five years. I am not about to give you a detailed review of the ninety-three tracks that are spread over the five discs, but would offer a more generalised view of [Klara Kormendi’s] approach that is ‘classical’ rather than the quirky and whimsical approach of many other recorded pianists. That would be to say her colours are subtle rather than obvious and have, for me, stood the test of time where I am always pleased to return to them. That I suppose fits perfectly into Satie’s desire to find a place among the most outstanding 20th century composers. The five discs are completed with five highly enjoyable works that Satie wrote…for four hands in which Kormendi is joined by Gabor Eckhardt. The first recording took place in 1989 and is very pleasing, and they get even better from there. A very recommended reissue. © 2013 David’s Review Corner
