THE JOURNAL, November 1990

At the very opening of the famous D minor Concerto (No. 20, K466) Ligeti admirably catches both the work's atmosphere and the feeling of gradually increasing tension. It is a performance with plentyo of drama and Jandó uses the Beethoven cadenzas with authority. The famous Romance, too, is nicely judged. The coupling is an carly favourite, No. 13 in C major, K415. It comes up with delectable freshness.
