Penguin Guide, January 2009

The B flat Sonata has been called ‘a comfortable and domestic’ version of Beethoven’s Hammerklavier. However, Benjamin Frith is so persuasive that he dispels this impression. His playing is nothing less than a delight, and in the celebrated Rondo capriccioso and the more conventional Variations in E flat of 1841 he is as light out touch as one could possibly wish.

"Frith plays the Sonata, and the balance of the program, with clarity and strength, and follows the dramatic contours with vaulting confidence."
