Penguin Guide, January 2009

Hummel’s elegant, easy-going melodic style seems custom-made for the flute, and his three lightweight sonatas are lacking in neither diversity nor charm. The Grand rondeau brillant is entertainingly like a Weber display piece. The performances on Naxos are both sunny and technically felicitous, and are warmly recorded. The Trio is an ingenuous set of variations on a Russian folk tune which lends itself to sparkling divisions. Here there is plenty of bustle before the work ends peacefully.

Gramophone, December 1996

"This fascinating issue will have a wide appeal, particularly at super-bargain price."

"the performers, all Canadians, are technically top drawer and altogether committed to playing the music for all it is worth"
