Penguin Guide, January 2009

An inexpensive and, at 70 minutes, well-filled CD, beautifully recorded and pleasingly sung. Bodil Arnesen has a voice of great purity and radiance. She sings marvelously in tune, though some may find that in this repertoire she has something of a ‘little-girl’, innocent quality that does not give the whole picture. This perhaps is troubling when you are listening to all the songs straight off. Taken a group at a time, she will touch most hearts, particularly in the setting of Bjørnson’s Prinsessen and Det første mote. Erling Eriksen is an excellent accompanist.

"Bodil Arnesen is a young lyric soprano with just the right freshness for these open-air songs... she has a healthy glow on the upper notes, shows a nice feeling for nuance, and knows how to make the voice smile"

BBC Music Magazine

"fresh, silvery tone and energetic diction...a necessary purchase for the converted and at budget price it's certainly a god place to dip a curious toe"
