Penguin Guide, January 2009

This overtly nationalistic music, using original tunes, has encouraged various composers to orchestrate them, of which this set by Rafael Ferrer is colourful and effective. The flutes and oscillating strings in No. 2 have a haunting atmosphere, and the delicacy of writing in the central sections of No. 5, flanked with its strong, brooding theme, is imaginative also. If, in its orchestral format, this is hardly the most subtle music, it is all colourful and enjoyable. The recording is vivid and bright, matching the performance, and this inexpensive CD is worth its modest price.

Donald R Vroon
American Record Guide, October 2002

"These are delightful pieces. The orchestration here is by Rafael Ferrer, who was the conductor of this orchestra from 1962 to 1967. It's appropriate and interesting. The music sounds good orchestrated, even if it's hard to get the piano originals out of the ears and brain."

Byron Nilsson

"If you know and like the original piano version of the Granados, you'll enjoy the variety of this one, thanks to the good feelings encouraged by the dances themselves. The disc has a cumulative effect that's as persuasive as a warm, sunny day."
