Classical Notes, October 2007

MOZART: Symphonies Nos. 31, 35 and 40 (Tintner Edition 1) 8.557233
MOZART: Symphonies Nos. 34 and 41 (Tintner Edition 7) 8.557239

All of these performances are impeccably played, fully stylish without any hint of extrinsic personality, cleanly accented without any self-consciousness. The texture is full-blooded yet light, with a clear and silky acoustic. © 2007 Classical Notes Read complete review

This Mozart selection is the ideal introduction to the 12-volume Tintner Memorial Edition on Naxos…the performances were well prepared, spontaneously executed and the sound quality on disc is excellent…this disc is unreservedly recommended for the quality of the music making.

The WholeNote, June 2003

An intimate quality of sound and wonderfully disciplined musicianship…An excellent CD.

Ottawa Citizen, May 2003

You can hear more weighty and refined string playing, and more precise ensemble cohesion from major orchestras under the batons of more famous conductors, but you will not hear more meaningful, more invigorating, and more intensely keen performances of these three Mozart symphonies than the performances on Naxos's first disc of the Tintner Memorial Edition. I should add that despite the live concert venues and occasional audience noise, the sound engineering in no way deters appreciation of the presence of two distinguished musical minds: that of Mozart and of Georg Tintner.
