Eric J. Bruskin
Fanfare, September 2007

The 1964 Trio is a vivid and kaleidoscopic centerpiece, performed here by two of its original dedicatees, flutist Harvey Sollberger and Charles Wuorinen in a too-rare appearance on piano. This august pair founded the Group for Contemporary Music in 1962, and Wolpe’s Trio must have been one of their first commissions. Both the work itself and its performance here are full of the joy of discovery by composers still scaling the peaks of their powers. © 2007 Fanfare Read complete review

American Record Guide, April 2007

"This is the latest volume in Naxos's systematic and welcome rerelease of the Group for Contemporary Music's Koch recordings. The Group's virtuosic and deadpan performance style is uniquely suited to Wolpe's lyrically fussy idiom, and this program is particularly well recorded."
