This is some of the best playing I have heard from Wallfisch, who displays total commitment and control…this recital is highly recommended. © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

Paul Corfield Godfrey
MusicWeb International, July 2014

This disc is a praiseworthy reissue of a collection of recordings previously released by the British Music Society…this CD is self-recommending to anybody interested in British music in the latter half of the twentieth century, and Naxos are to be congratulated on its reissue.

We are not likely to get further recordings of the music—and indeed any prospective rival would have its work cut out to match these performances—so potential purchasers are advised to snap this one up while it remains readily available. © 2014 MusicWeb International Read complete review

David Denton
David's Review Corner, June 2014

Originally recorded by the British Music Society to redress the balance between popular and undervalued composers, three represented here suffer that neglect…[William Busch’s Cello Suite’s] long sweeping lyrical passages are readily attractive and rewarding for the performers…[Arnold Cooke’s] Second Cello Sonata…is pleasing on the ear, immaculately constructed, and decidedly naughty in its jig-like scherzo. Kenneth Leighton[’s]…unique and innovative musical voice and style, does place his Partita on a very different level to the remainder of the disc. Raphael Wallfisch continues championing British music, his performances full of passion and fervent belief in its cause. Raphael Terroni is the fine pianist. © 2014 David’s Review Corner
