Sang Woo Kang
American Record Guide, May 2014

…Lee supplies flair and depth in these renderings of Liszt arrangements. …she spins gorgeous phrases, commanding attention even if the variations are too long. Superb. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Jed Distler, January 2014

Lee’s shapely and sonorous handling of the thick pianistic hurdles throughout Liszt’s transcription of the Sarabande and Chaconne from Handel’s Singspiel Almira holds interest in terms of technique and stamina…

Lee…plays the Gounod transcriptions from Romeo et Juliette and La reine de Saba with a lovely lyrical sensitivity. Annotations and engineering are first rate. In all, a strong entry in Naxos’ ongoing Liszt series. © 2014 Read complete review

David Denton
David's Review Corner, January 2014

Franz Liszt performed the admirable task of transcribing for piano the orchestral and operatic music of others so that it would reach as wider audience as possible. The young Korean-American pianist, Soyeon Kate Lee, has come into this cycle of Liszt’s complete piano works when all the jewels have been picked over by other pianists, but she grasps the chance to showcase her credentials, and I guess few could improve on her account of the famous waltz from Gounod’s Faust. The evenness of those rippling passages, and her feel for the audience-pleasing brilliance that Liszt must have enjoyed, is captured to perfection. Excellent sound from Naxos’s Canadian recording team. © 2014 David’s Review Corner
