Michael Ullman
Fanfare, July 2015

The fragments…are well worth hearing, and Sang Woo Kang plays them with care and some delicacy. I am sure that Mozartians will want to hear some recording of the fragments: This is a good one, and it is recorded well. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review

American Record Guide, May 2015

Kang’s grab bag of fugues, rondos, and fantasias contains music of varying levels of interest. The later rondos and other works need no apology for quality of inspiration, and Kang plays them expressively. What remains of the little heard Suite, K 399 is also a pleasant Bach-Handel-like experience in Kang’s strong hands. © 2015 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

David Denton
David's Review Corner, January 2015

Following his death aged thirty-five, Mozart’s wife, Constanze, collected together all of his remaining manuscripts hoping they would be published or purchased. Many were incomplete, though, as we will find from this disc, the majority were more probably for his own education, that being particularly the case in the twenty-two fugues included in this new release. For the most part they were rooted in the style of Bach, and, though most come from Mozart’s mature years, they seem to have been a self-generated challenge to compose fugues that at times went no further than a few bars, though those completed were of high quality. Yet, as you will find, it is in the two well-known Rondos and an arrangement of the incomplete Fantasia for violin and piano that are the jewels of the thirty-one tracks, some of the fragments lasting but a few seconds. They are performed by the American-based pianist, Sang Woo Kang, his account of the two Rondos as charming as any I have encountered on disc. …the release is an inexpensive and interesting journey into little-known Mozart. © 2015 David’s Review Corner
