Kenneth Keaton
American Record Guide, March 2014

Ms Park[’s]…Scarlatti is just lovely, crackling with energy, with beautiful, singing melodies…

Park’s Malats and Barrios are expressive and tasteful, and both are easy to play tastelessly.

Kyuhee Park is an exciting artist. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

David's Review Corner, November 2013

The latest an unending flood of major guitar award winners, the young South Korean, Kyunee Park, having won the 2012 ‘Alhambra’ International Competition. Proving that she is equally adept over a whole range of music, her programme is typical of those we hear in such competitions, opening in the 18th century with some of the most effectual guitar imitations of the harpsichord in three of Scarlatti’s sonatas in her own arrangements. Her right hand articulation is so precise and also very clear, even in the most complex way. Indeed she is a very nimble and technically gifted young lady…Agustin Barrios Mangore takes us into the world of pleasing salon music, with plenty of tremolo as the backdrop to the melody in Un Sueno en la Floresta (Dream in the Glade). Coming to the present day with the test piece by Jesus Manuel Lopez Lopez commissioned for the 2012 Alhambra competition. Fresh and new sonorities that I much enjoyed. The performances point to an emerging talent…it is an enjoyable disc from Naxos’s Canadian recording team. © 2013 David’s Review Corner
