Kenneth Keaton
American Record Guide, May 2015

[Kuang] performs the Bach Chaconne with not only technical command, but with impressive understanding of the architecture of the piece. Other works are never less than good, and often truly fine. © 2015 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

David Denton
David's Review Corner, December 2014

A remarkable guitarist who won a major competition at the age of eleven after only two years of professional training. Now aged fourteen he makes his debut on disc. Born in China in 2000 his choice of programme is a rather predictable group of ‘lollypops’, though it showcases a new talent who stands out in an overcrowded world of young guitarists. The perfect microsecond evenness and speed of the runs in Legnani’s Seventh Caprice of Opus 10 is an example of his quite unique degree of technical accomplishment. Yet to stress this aspect of the disc would be to miss the musicality of his playing, as we hear in the Albéniz’s well-known Sevilla, where he massages the basic rhythms to add his own highly engaging view of the score. I will even put aside my puritanical approach to Bach’s Second Violin Partita, and admit that in his hands I enjoy this new arrangement just as much as the original score. And so I could go on adding plaudits, but having had this well-recorded disc, I now hope Naxos will take him into the studio to record something more substantial. He certainly deserves such attention. © 2014 David’s Review Corner
