Soundboard, December 2015

…Jearakul is a world-class player with fantastic technique and beautiful musicianship. …his playing impressively demonstrates the near-universal appeal of the music for guitar. © 2015 Soundboard Read complete review

American Record Guide, November 2015

Jearakul captures the wildness of the rites better than any I’ve heard. And…his performance of Berkeley’s delightful neo-classical Sonatina…is nonetheless enjoyable. © 2015 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

David's Review Corner, June 2015

In 2014 Ekachai Jearakul became the first Asian to win the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, this recording made soon after. He choose a far from hackneyed programme opening with his tasteful arrangement of the Thirteenth Lute Suite by Weiss, and ending in the world of jazz with three songs by the King of Thailand. He is certainly not afraid of placing his technique under scrutiny in an immaculate performance of Luigi Legnani’s Fantasie, and then offers himself to comparison with other virtuoso guitarists in Leo Brouwer’s Rito de los Orishas. On the fringe of the guitar repertoire, I particularly welcome his colourful approach to Lennox Berkeley’s pro-active Sonatina—the first of his opus 52—Jearakul’s tempos offering a display of his virtuosity in both hands, while the tender and relaxed view of the central Lento is beautiful. Then for the fireworks of the final Allegro non troppo that sends his left hand in a dizzying display of agility. I guess making a career in a guitar world that is overflowing with competition winners is not easy, but here is a young man of outstanding technical quality who can adapt so readily to works of so many different styles. The Canadian recording team have provided the best possible sound quality. Strongly recommended. © 2015 David’s Review Corner
