For the most part Johannsen’s arrangements are a delight; often witty—A little slow waltz, Jumping Jack—they’re interspersed with more wistful numbers, among them Two larks in love have nested, Summer song and Apple blossom. There’s even a stirring account of Nielsen’s Helios Overture and a robust one of the composer’s best-known piece for organ, Commotio. The playing is good—Zielke is remarkably assured throughout—and the difficult organ/trumpet balance is spot on.
