Jeremy Nicholas
Gramophone, July 2017

Liszt was strongly attracted to Schubert’s mighty Wanderer Fantasy for solo piano, its unifying process of thematic transformation exerting a strong influence on his own music. He made this version in 1851, adhering scrupulously to the original—a four-movements-in-one piano concerto in all but name. Edith Farnadi, among the finest (and most underrated) of Liszt players, brings depth and poetry as well as musical bravura. © 2017 Gramophone
